Cora B. Marrett
Cora B. Marrett joined the University of
Wisconsin System as Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs
August 1, 2001, after having served as senior vice chancellor
for academic affairs and provost at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst
since 1997.She was a member of the UW-Madison faculty
from 1974 to 1997, with appointments in two departments: sociology
and Afro-American studies.During her career she has
served as director of two programs for the United Negro College
Fund, and as assistant director of the National Science Foundation.Dr.
Marrett is responsible for supervising Academic and Student Services (ACSS), the Office of Policy Analysis and Research, the Office
of Learning and Information Technology, and Learning Innovations.She
also oversees the Office of Multicultural Affairs, works closely
with the Board of Regents and with each institution in the UW
System, and serves as UW-System President Katharine C. Lyall's
deputy.
Valentine
Moghadam
Valentine Moghadam is the Director of Women’s
Studies and an Associate Professor of Sociology at Illinois State
University.She has served as a Senior Researcher and
Coordinator of the Research Program on Women and development at
the United Nations University’s WIDER Institute in Helsinki, Finland.Moghadam’s
current research and publications pertain to the gender dynamics
of globalization with a focus on women’s organizations and women’s
roles in the global economy. She is also engaged in the
study of the gender aspects of citizenship and civil society in
the Middle East.(See her list of recommended

studies issues, particularly focused on the Middle East.) Her
article, "Gendering and Globalizing Social Movements"
will be published in Feminist Press this year.During
2001-2002 Dr. Moghadam will be a Fellow at the Woodrow Wilson
International Center for Scholars, in Washington, D.C.
Melanie Herzog(Museum
Tour)
Melanie Herzog will guide our Saturday afternoon tour of the exhibition
‘Elizabeth Catlett, Works on Paper 1944-1992”, on display at the
newly expanded Milwaukee Art Museum.Melanie Herzog
is an Associate Professor of Art at Edgewood College in Madison,
Wisconsin.An art historian and artist, Dr. Herzog
teaches courses in art history and women’s studies.She
is the author of Elizabeth Catlett: An American Artist in Mexico,
(2000) which examines the life of this activist African American
artist who has made her home in Mexico.
