The 29th Annual Conference of the University of Wisconsin
System Women's Studies Consortium will bring together over
300 academics, teachers, students, community leaders and
activists, and others whose lives have been or could be
enriched by Women's Studies to celebrate, examine, and envision
the widest range of Women's Studies issues.
In conjunction with the 10th anniversary of the UW-System
Women of Color Excellence in Education awards, this conference
will include a series of celebrations, discussions, and
strategy sessions promoting the continued achievements of
women of color as students, staff, faculty and community
partners.
Organized
around the conference them, InterACTIONS: Activism, Research,
Scholarship, Teaching, this conference offered:
° A plenary on "Researching/Teaching Activism and
Teaching is Activism"
° A plenary on "Using Feminist Research for Social
Change"
° A plenary on "Making the Connections between
Women's Studies and Other Interdisciplinary studies"
° Fifty-seven workshops featuring 160 presenters from
thoughout all parts of Wisconsin and the Midwest, and some
national and international speakers
° A book stall, book signings, exhibits, posters, and
a Friday lunch and late Friday reception as networking opportunities
° A Saturday brunch to celebrate Women of Color Honorees
